If you’re like me, you love discovering new and exciting indie video games that offer fresh and innovative gameplay experiences. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of the best upcoming indie video games that I think you should definitely keep an eye on.
These games are not only gorgeous and creative but also promise to challenge and delight you in ways that triple-A titles don’t seem to. Here are some of my picks for the best indie games that are coming soon.
Hollow Knight: Silksong – Before June 2023 (apparently)
Play as Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, and adventure through a whole new kingdom ruled by silk and song! Captured and brought to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is the epic sequel to Hollow Knight, the award-winning action adventure. As the lethal hunter Hornet, journey to all-new lands, discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts and uncover ancient secrets tied to your nature and your past.
Hades II – Early Access expected in 2023
Battle beyond the Underworld using dark sorcery to take on the Titan of Time in this bewitching sequel to the award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler.
As the immortal Princess of the Underworld, you’ll explore a bigger, deeper mythic world, vanquishing the forces of the Titan of Time with the full might of Olympus behind you, in a sweeping story that continually unfolds through your every setback and accomplishment.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk – August 2023
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is 1 second per second of advanced funk style. Battle rival crews and dispatch military police to conquer the five boroughs of New Amsterdam. Become All City.
Team Reptile brings you Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, a future world from the mind of Dion Koster where self-styled graffiti crews equipped with personal boost packs are battling each other for control of the streets. Start your own cypher and dance, paint graffiti, collecting beats, combo your tricks and face off with the cops to stake your claim to the sprawling metropolis of New Amsterdam.
COCOON – Coming Soon
From Jeppe Carlsen, the lead gameplay designer of LIMBO and INSIDE. COCOON takes you on an adventure across worlds within worlds. Master world-leaping mechanics and solve intricate puzzles to unravel a cosmic mystery.
COCOON is a unique take on the puzzle adventure genre. Each world exists within an orb that you can carry on your back. Wrap your head around the core mechanic of leaping between worlds—and combine, manipulate, and rearrange them to solve intricate puzzles.
Songs of Glimmerwick – Coming Soon
Songs of Glimmerwick is a story-driven RPG where magic is cast through music. Players will attend magic classes, learn to play different songs to cast spells, grow a magical garden, make potions, and take on quests to get to know the various denizens of Glimmerwick.
There are moth races, forest expeditions, and festivals to attend. Mixing plenty of optional mini-games and side quests alongside the main storyline. Characters are customizable, NPCs both major and minor will be voice acted. The game’s music will be composed by Eastshade composer Phoenix Glendinning.
