Thumbstick Tuesday – 20th December 2022

Welcome to our Thumbstick Tuesday on 20th December 2022. How was your week?

This week has been a fairly mixed bag for all of us with games.

This will be the last Thumbstick Tuesday for 2022, so from all of us to all of you, we thank you for the support this year and we hope 2023 will be even bigger. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

What have you been playing? Let us know in the comments section or over on our Twitter page.

Ben

This week Ben has played mostly the same games as last week and hasn’t purchased any new ones. However… He has played some of his new review game, LONE RUIN.

  • Played
    • PC
      • Football Manager 2023
      • Fabular Once Upon a Spacetime
      • Wavetale
      • LONE RUIN
      • Redout
      • Darkside Detective
    • Nintendo Switch
      • Pokémon Violet
      • Swordship
  • Purchased
    • None

Ben’s highlight this week is LONE RUIN on the PC. It’s his latest review game but we can’t say too much about it just yet because of some rules in place.

Lone Ruin is a spell-based roguelike twin-stick shooter with a focus on replayability. Play as an explorer who seeks a mysterious ancient power and venture in a ruined magical city, built atop a source of magic used by olden mages to power and transform themselves.

Brian

This week Brian has been working on a game from his backlog as well as playing some more of a couple of recent games.

  • Played
    • PlayStation
      • Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
      • God of War Ragnorok
      • WRC Generations
    • Nintendo Switch
      • Aragami 2
  • Purchased
    • PlayStation
      • Cat Quest 1 and 2 bundle

Brian’s highlight this week is Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. He’s finally got around to playing this from his backlog and absolutely loved it from start to finish.

The game is played from a first-person perspective and most of its levels are navigated on foot. The story is arranged in chapters, which players complete in order to progress. A binary choice in the prologue alters the game’s entire storyline; some characters and small plot points are replaced throughout the timelines. The game features a variety of weapons, most of which can be dual wielded. A cover system is also present. Continuing from The New Order, the development team aimed to characterize Blazkowicz for players to adopt his personality. Mick Gordon returned as the game’s composer, and is joined by Martin Stig Andersen.

Martin

This week Martin mostly played PowerWash Simulator on his PC and Steam Deck. Therefore that’s his highlight this week.

  • Played
    • PC
      • Valkyrie Elysium
      • PowerWash Simulator
      • Oxygen Not Included
    • Xbox
      • High on Life
      • Forza Horizon 5
  • Purchased
    • PC
      • Valkyrie Elysium
      • Final Fantasy 3 3D Remake

Martin’s highlight this week is PowerWash Simulator. This is the third time Martin is playing it through, you can see his review for it here.

Release the Pressure with PowerWash Simulator! Wash away your worries with the soothing sounds of high-pressure water. Fire up your power washer and blast away every speck of dirt and grime you can find, all with the simple satisfaction of power-washing to a sparkling finish.
