Among Ashes, a horror game about playing a horror game has a playable demo out now on Steam. This has been released as part of Steam’s FPS Fest. The game is brought to us by Rat Cliff Games (One True Hero) and will be released later this year.

Yes, that is correct. The above is not a typo. This game is a game about you playing a horror game. Not only that, it’s about the disturbing creation behind a horror game called Night Call. Your friend has sent you a link to this game on a stormy nite in the early 2000s.
The game is a metafictional horror title and as you play, strange things start happening in your apartment. There is something terribly wrong with this game.
Among Ashes features an innovative, meta-framing device. This will give players an experience of a fully retro-inspired first-person survival horror game… with another first-person horror game inside of it. In addition to this are puzzles, mechanics, and unique personal touches that take players back to the start of this millennium.
The playable demo will last 30 minutes and give players a chilling taste of the game’s opening sequence. Players will download the enigmatic Night Call from an unsettling post on a message board. In the demo, you will be able to explore the atmospheric Stoker Manor before coming face-to-face with the horrors that lie within.
