Some may remember way back in 2015, Jon Hare announced he was working on a new football game titled Sociable Soccer. Jon is a British designer and he worked on the absolutely legendary Sensible Soccer series of games, which I bloody loved when I was younger.
Sociable Soccer started as a kickstarter campaign and it was hastily launched and soon withdrawn. Two years later, a Steam Early Access version became available and then disappeared a year or so later.
It’s been nearly four years since there was any news on the game, until now.
You Mean Football, Mate?
Sociable Soccer 24 will feature over 13,000 FIFPRO licensed footballers which means you’ll be able to assemble your dream team from real world talent. The game will feature lightning-fast and intuitive online and offline gameplay.
Honestly, if you’ve never played a Sensi game, you have missed out. They were absolutely class games on platforms such as the Commodore Amiga and Sega Mega Drive – Genesis to our friends over the pond.
“My newest baby, Sociable Soccer 24, the World’s only FIFPRO licensed, arcade action football game for PC and Console, has spent so long in gestation, that most people had assumed by now, after 8 years, that it had been aborted.”Said Hare“But here at Tower Studios, in partnership with Combo Breaker and Huey Games we have continued to stick to the task and are now delivering on our promise to offer Sociable Soccer to our fans and supporters on PC and Console…. and of course, everyone who backed us on Early Access will get it for free.”
Leon Nevels, director of 4TuneGames commented “We are delighted to welcome Tower Studios as a new partner for our global distribution business”, with Robert Stallibrass, director of Contact Sales, adding “We are thrilled to be working with Jon Hare and his team on what is the most exciting product for us in our 27-year history”.
Meanwhile, Peter Jakobsen of Games Branding had this to say “It’s an honour to be a part of the upcoming release of Sociable Soccer 24, it brings back what it’s all about, that good old arcade fun feeling with great couch co-op. We are thrilled to support Sociable Soccer 24.”
Hare concluded: “When I look at the game’s credits now there are just so many people who have been involved and the list keeps on growing, it’s insane. Companies from the UK, Finland, France, Poland, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, the US and China have all helped us to deliver Sociable Soccer 24, it is rather reminiscent of the 1,000 teams from all over the world that are included in the game.”
