Swordcery is coming to Steam Next Fest with a brand-new playable demo. Developed by Temple Door Games, founded by two animators from 2018’s God of War, this action-RPG pairs fast-paced hack-and-slash combat with roguelike progression. Players build an ever-growing arsenal of spellbound blades, each carrying unique magical abilities ready to unleash on the battlefield.
The Steam Next Fest demo offers an early look at Swordcery’s blend of action, progression, and mysticism. Players can experiment with unique sword classes, battle dangerous enemies and bosses, and uncover the magical powers hidden within enchanted weapons. From old-fashioned swords of steel to a tennis racket and an actual shark, each fight is just plain fun. There’s a sword for every player and for every occasion.

What Makes Swordcery Stand Out
- Fight the Corruption: A giant blade has plunged into the Earth, bringing a hail of smaller blades along with it. The calamitous sword seems to be draining the power of the Earth itself. With each passing day, the rain of swords grows heavier. To undo this vile corruption, you’ll play as Colt, an unwitting hero with the power to wield the fallen blades. It’s time to make a stand against the Celestial evil that seeks to destroy the kingdom of Armorial.
- Unleash the Power of Spellbound Blades: As you venture forth, each new sword you find will come with a unique ability, aka its Swordcery. These abilities unlock magical feats: hurling your sword like a boomerang, striking down as lightning, tearing open hellfire fissures, or summoning a ring of icy swordflakes!
- Master the Blade: Every blade you find is categorised into a Sword Class, which has its own set of offensive manoeuvres. From specific combos to unique abilities, each Sword Class may be more advantageous due to the terrain or combat situation. It’s up to you to decide which Sword Class works best alongside your Swordcery abilities.
- Forged for Replayability: Each new run brings new swords, relics, sword class upgrades, and procedurally generated dungeons to explore.
