Welcome to my review of the Edifier Hecate GX05 gaming earbuds. These are wireless earbuds that are made for gamers. I’m not even joking, we have RGB lights, ultra-low latency thanks to a 2.4GHz dongle, and more.
Continue reading to find out my thoughts on these earbuds and why I’ve scored them an 8 out of 10.
The Hardware
So to start with, in the box, we get the usual. The earbuds themselves inside of their amazing metal charging case, a charging cable, and some other random bits such as a carry bag, some USB-C dust protectors, some spare tips to change the size, a manual, and also a USB-A to USB-C converter just incase you don’t have a USB-C port on your PC or laptop. They also come inside a rather fancy case to protect your precious purchase whilst in transit. Of course, you can re-use this case if you wish.
These have to be the coolest wireless earbuds my ears have adorned. They look amazing. They feel just as good as they look too. To top it off, they sound even better than they look and feel. The RGB lights can be set to the typical rainbow scheme, or the colours can be changed from a variety of presets that are changed using the button on the bottom of the charging case. They can also be completely turned off, this will assist with the below negative point I make.
But, there is a but… The battery life. It needs improving. Don’t get me wrong, the battery life can be upwards of 4 hours, but when you compare that to some cheap Bluetooth earbuds, that’s like half of what you’d get on those. However, there are reasons for this.
The Edifier Hecate GX05 not only has some cool RGB lighting, but it also has ultra-low latency so there is next to no delay in you seeing the picture and receiving the sound. It can be as low as 15ms.
I can hear hardcore e-sports players now… “15ms! That’s like an hour! I need a quicker response!”… No you don’t. For me, the delay is more than acceptable because it’s so fast, that you’ll barely notice anything.
I’ve played these mostly through PC, but I have also tried them in my Lenovo Legion Go, my Steam Deck OLED, and my PS5 using the front USB-C port. All of the platforms I’ve tried them on worked with no issues. Just plug and play. Of course, you can also connect them via Bluetooth should you wish. This is good for those who want to use them on, say, an iOS or Android device.

Conclusions
These are very comfortable earbuds and I highly rate them. The only letdown, for me at least, is the battery life. I’ve been getting around three hours out of them which for most people is probably ample. But for me, whilst amid a good session and I hear “Battery low, please charge!” within a few hours it’s quite disappointing. Other than that, they sound amazing, they’re very comfortable, and the design is super cool.

I score the Edifier Hecate GX05 an 8/10. If the battery life was better it would have been a nine!
