The SoundPeats Clear Buds are wireless earbuds that offer a unique combination of features. They have a transparent design, long battery life and good sound quality. These earbuds are not only stylish but also affordable. They are perfect for everyday use, working out, or gaming. Additionally, they are comfortable to wear for extended periods. Now, let’s get into the breakdown!
Design & Comfort
The SoundPeats Clear Buds are immediately noticeable for their transparent design. This makes them conversation starters and gives them a distinctive look. Don’t believe me? Well, I showed them to my girlfriend, and her reaction was, “Oh, they look cool”, before snatching them out of my hand to take a proper look. They’re different, and people like different. However, the transparency doesn’t just look cool; it also allows you to see the internals of the earbuds, which honestly need to make a proper comeback. Remember back in the 90s when clear tech was all the rage? It’s never not been cool if you ask me. We need more of it this century.
The case opens up in a different way than the other earbuds from SoundPeats that I’ve tested recently. With those, like the Air4 Pro, the top opens, and you just see the tops of the earbuds. With the Clear Buds, half the case opens like it’s a cockpit, and you can see all of the earbuds in all their transparent glory. You don’t have to slide them out; you pluck them from their little cradle.
The earbuds themselves are lightweight and comfortable to wear, with a soft, ergonomic design that fits securely in the ears. They come with three different ear tips to ensure a snug fit. The only disappointment is that the internals can only be seen when you’re not wearing them. Anyone looking at them whilst you’re listening to something won’t see much internals, either. If they’re looking at the side of your head, they’ll see a white (or black, depending on which colour you buy) barrier blocking those sweet internals. And looking at you straight on, they’ll see the sides of the buds where they’ll be able to tell they’re transparent but not see much. It’s a slightly missed opportunity to really show off what is otherwise a cool design.
SoundPeats App
The SoundPeats app is pretty essential if you have any SoundPeats headphones. For starters, you can get firmware updates. And in addition to that, you also get to customise how they sound.
The SoundPeats Clear Buds don’t offer much through the app, as there’s no Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), but you can set a custom equalizer, select Game Mode and, my personal favourite, disable touch controls. I’m not adverse to touch controls, but I do live somewhere where it rains a fair bit, and I don’t need the hood of my coat activating the touch controls.
Game Mode, if anyone’s wondering, ensures that the earbuds delay will be greatly reduced to ensure the synchronization of the game audio and picture. It’s enabled by default, but if you’re just listening to Spotify or your own downloaded music, turning Game Mode off will give a slightly better sound quality. The range also drops slightly with it on. So if you’re not using them for gaming or watching videos, you might as well turn Game Mode off.
Calls, Outside and Sound Playback
The SoundPeats Clear Buds deliver surprisingly good sound quality for their price. I won’t lie, I didn’t expect them to sound as good as they do, even though I’ve come to expect good quality from SoundPeats.
They offer a well-balanced sound profile, featuring clear mids, punchy bass, and crisp highs. The bass doesn’t overpower the other frequencies, but it’s still present and adds a nice depth to the sound. The mids are well-defined, making vocals and instruments sound realistic. The highs are crisp and detailed, without being harsh. Overall, the sound quality is impressive for a pair of earbuds in this price range.
They also have a few features that make them stand out from the competition. First, they have a long battery life of up to 7 hours per charge. The charging case can provide an additional 3 times charge, giving you a total of 40 hours of listening time.
Second, the earbuds have a low latency mode, which is perfect for gaming.
Third, the earbuds have dual microphones with Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC), which helps to reduce background noise during calls. This makes it easy to have clear conversations even in noisy environments. It’s not the same as ANC, but it’s still pretty good. You hear more of what’s around you, but not so much that you can’t hear what you’re listening to. I definitely prefer ANC, but at this price point it’s nice to have ENC than nothing at all. But for calls, ENC is really good so long as a lorry doesn’t drive past you.
Conclusion
The SoundPeats Clear Buds are a pair of wireless earbuds that offer a unique and stylish design, good sound quality, long battery life, and low latency mode. They are comfortable to wear and have dual microphones with Environmental Noise Cancellation for clear calls. They are also affordable, selling for just £39.99. For that price, these are incredibly good value. The SoundPeats Clear Buds are a great choice for anyone looking for a versatile and reliable pair of earbuds.
For me, these are perfect for around the house or at work. For outside, I prefer earbuds with ANC. But at work, they’re brilliant and get peoples interest with their unique overall look (case included). And at home whilst gaming or writing where I really don’t need ANC, they’re borderline perfect. There’s an awful lot to love for earbuds this good at just £39.99 – or less if you use the below coupon! I rate the SoundPeats Clear Buds an excellent 9/10. If you’re looking for some budget earbuds, you can’t go wrong with these.
