CLeM

CLeM Review

Welcome to my review of CLeM. CLeM is brought to us by developers Mango Protocol (Mechanika, Colossus Down) and publishers Iceberg Interactive (Railroad Corporation, Land of the Vikings). It is labelled as a “Puzzlevania” game, but on Steam it has the tags of puzzle and escape room. The game is out now on PC (Steam, Epic Games, GOG) and Nintendo Switch. There is also a free prologue of the game for you to check out. But this will also help you decide if you want to purchase the full game or not.

CLeM is available now for £13.49 on Steam. Continue reading to find out my thoughts, once you’re done here you can read our previous reviews.

The Game

The journey in CLeM starts in a cold and dark basement. Soon, you will be wandering around an ever-changing mansion trying to solve puzzles to piece together the story. The story explores themes of forgiveness, manipulation, and redemption.

We play as the servant and we have to find items and take them to a mysterious room with a voice that commands what you have to take her.

One key part of the game is your ability to craft some alchemic toys from items that are scavenged throughout the house. These will not only give you the ability to unveil hidden secrets, but you will also gain access to new areas that you could not access before.

CLeM is a game where you will need to think outside of the box, and I like that. It doesn’t feel like a typical monotonous game where you are just clicking around for the sake of it. I love the style of the graphics in the game. The developers went for a hand-drawn art style and it paid off in my opinion.

CLeM

Also, for some strange reason, when you click on an item that you don’t have something for, say a key, our protagonist lets out a fairly high-pitched sound which sounds like “I don’t know”, and it makes me laugh. I don’t know why, it just seemed to tickle my bones. I’ll take it either way.

The idea of the game is to work your way through the various puzzles and escape rooms when you get locked into them. In turn, this will help you unmask the chilling secrets that the dark adventure of CLeM holds.

I enjoyed playing CLeM and wish there were more games of this nature. If there is, and I don’t know about them, please drop a comment below!

Conclusions

CLeM is a fantastic game and I highly recommend picking it up. Especially if you’re into puzzle and escape room style games. It has some brilliant graphics as well as some clever puzzles that will keep your brain in top form.
