So how will Crypto and I get on during the remaster of his second coming? Continue reading to find out. You can also read our previous reviews here.
The Game
In Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, players take control of a funny little grey dude named Crypto. He is a comedy genius who just wants to end humanity and get back to his home planet, Furon.
During his time in the swinging ’60s, Crypto must face off again hippies, police, soldiers, and the dreaded KGB. Not only that, but to help him achieve his goals, Crypto must form an alliance with the species he came to enslave on planet Earth, the humans.
You can body snatch humans as you’re traversing the world of Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed. It’s quite funny in a way especially if you get caught body snatching, as civilians will panic and run to call the police. Unless of course, you wash their brains before they can do that.

Crypto has a wide arsenal of weaponry and gadgets at his fingertips, and it’s down to you to help him choose the right weapon for the job ahead. Need some crowd control? Simple, his laser zapper will end those darned humans who are lurking around or attacking Crypto. Need to blow a hole in a door to get through and progress? no worries, Crypto has a weapon for that.
He also has his trusty spaceship which is also loaded with a ton of different weapons and gadgets. You can blow everything in sight to pieces if you want to. Just remember whilst you’re blowing stuff up, or running away from combat to keep your eyes peeled for some of the various collectibles the game hides away from you. One of these is vinyl records which give you a new song to play whilst mulching down humans. Pretty cool.

The gameplay is pretty fun, but, I feel like I’ve played it all before. With that, I don’t mean the 2020 release of Destroy All Humans! I just mean in general, it all feels too “samey” unfortunately. I couldn’t click with the game and I can’t quite put my finger on why.
Look & Sound
The graphics are actually pretty impressive and the game ran very well on my gaming laptop powered with an AMD Ryzen 9 and an Nvidia RTX 3080. However, the game didn’t run so well on my Steam deck, I had to set the settings down low and the fan was very loud whilst playing. But naturally, that is always going to happen with the Steam Deck as it’s made for portability.
All in all, the game looks and runs beautifully when played on proper hardware. It is playable on deck, just not as nice as a full PC.

The sounds in Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed are also of high quality. It all sounds pretty impressive, especially the voice-over work when in cut scenes. Music is rather groovy and the sound effects themselves all sound clean and crisp.
Length & Replayability
It will take you anything up to 20 hours to beat the game depending on how you progress.
It also has 44 achievements for players to unlock should they wish to.
Conclusions
Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed is okay. I got a bit bored of it as it felt too much of the same as the original remaster that came out a couple of years ago from the same development team.
They have done a fantastic job with the remaster of the game, it seemed very bug-free and ran pretty well. This is just my personal opinion and I could not click with the game.
At the time of writing this game is Playable on the Steam Deck.

I score Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed a 6/10.
