Castle Away: Build a Flying Fortress in This New Strategy Roguelite

Independent developers René Slump (Gladiator Manager) and Sim Kaart (Rift Riff) announce Castle Away, a strategy roguelite autobattler that challenges players to build, command, and explore using a customisable floating keep.

Made in Godot, Castle Away combines elements from Faster than Light and Backpack Hero, within a hand-drawn, fantasy setting. It is now available to wishlist on Steam, with a closed alpha playtest opening for sign-ups today on the Renegade Games Discord.

The surface is cursed by demons, so the only refuge is to stay afloat. Players will build their flying castle tile-by-tile, placing structures to create powerful synergies. Placing an Archer Tower next to a Windmill increases its attack speed, while a Holy Banner doubles the damage output of the entire row. Survival depends not just on what you build, but where you build it.

“We want players to be able to build and command their own floating keep, use it to slay monsters, and scavenge for goods, while thinking strategically about structure placement.” – Sim Kaart, Art and Game Design.
