Noctua has today revealed the latest cooler in their “low-profile” lineup. They are pleased to announce the Noctua NH-L12Sx77.
Slightly Taller Than The Older Sibling
This cooler is slightly taller than its older sibling, the NH-L12S. This means it will offer improved cooling performance and also enhanced RAM and motherboard compatibility.
The cooler also has 6 heat pipes instead of 4 which will allow for higher heat loads compared to the original. This means that this cooler would be great for those with higher-end computers in the more compact cases. This should help those challenging turbo boost modes which can be difficult to handle with smaller coolers.
Just like the regular NH-12S, there is a fan preinstalled underneath the fin stack that will blow upwards. Perfect for compact cases that have a perforated panel above the CPU as the hot air can be exhausted straight out of the case.
As an example, Noctua has said that the Noctua NH-L12Sx77 would be a perfect fit for Fractal Design’s Terra, SilverStone’s Milo ML12, or the unique award-winning RAW S1 from Louqe.
“Our NH-L12S is a popular choice for compact builds in cases like the Fractal Design Terra or Louqe RAW S1, but due to its height of only 70mm, RAM compatibility and clearance for tall motherboard components are limited. At the same time, many of these cases offer a bit of extra space”, explains Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). “This is where the new NH-L12Sx77 steps in: It makes use of that extra space in order to provide enhanced compatibility and even better cooling performance, which comes in handy when building powerful gaming or productivity setups.”
