Welcome to my review of the Edifier Hecate G5 Max wireless gaming headset.
This headset supports Hi-Res Audio as well as THX Spatial Audio and is powered by a 53mm pair of drivers.
The Hardware
Upon opening the box, you’re greeted with a well-packaged headset from Edifier, as always. As you can see below it comes with everything you need to get going with this headset.
I will say this is probably one of the most premium headsets I have reviewed from Edifier. It feels very good not only in your hands but also on your head.
The best feature of this headset is that it’s probably one of the best headsets I have used for quality of sound. The treble and bass balance is very good. I did not find any hissing or empty sound on the Edifier Hecate G5 Max. The levels of bass are fantastic too and I found that it was not overpowering to the point it gives you an instant headache because of how powerful it was.
Of course, being a “gaming headset” it has RGB lighting. Because what gaming peripheral in 2026 would not be complete without it? 😂
I found the headset stayed comfortable even after hours of use. This is a huge pro in my opinion. I believe this is with thanks partially to the 3D pivot fitting cups which help fit your head better.
Onboard there is a set of dual built-in mics and there is also a detachable boom mic. In my testing, they gave great quality with people on the other end hearing me just fine.
There is also an automatic balance that can balance chat and gaming volume automatically. I will be honest and say I have not yet used this feature as I don’t play many multiplayer games these days and if I am chatting to friends I am usually just chatting and not gaming.
I didn’t feel my ears getting hot or uncomfortable at all. Of course, the mega-long battery life helps too. When I say mega-long, it is said that the headset can last up to 305 hours in Bluetooth mode with the lights turned off.
Connection and Software
This headset is literally a plug and play device, plug the dongle into your PC, PlayStation etc and it’s ready to go. You can also connect via Bluetooth and also directly using a USB-C to USB-A cable.
In total the headset can connect up to four different ways. Bluetooth, the 2.4G USB dongle which has both USB-C and USB-A capabilities, and also wired.
There is a dedicated Hecate app you can download for your computer to fine tune the headset as well as update the firmware. In my testing, this program seemed fine and simple enough to use.

Conclusions
The Edifier Hecate G5 Max is quite a comfortable headset that has a great quality of sound to them.
