Welcome to my review of the Edifier R20BT USB-Powered speakers.
These are the latest of a nice long line of Edifier hardware that I’ve been sent. I will get it straight out there that these really surprised me!
At the time of writing these speakers cost £39.99 on Amazon UK with an RRP of £59.99.
The Hardware
In the box, you will receive the speakers and a few of the usual leaflets such as a quick start guide. That’s it. Seriously, that is all you receive in the box… However, that’s all you need! The speakers themselves have a built in USB-C cable that serves as both power and data. So if you have a USB-C port on your PC / Laptop / Android phone then you’re good to go.
Unfortunately there is no USB-C to USB-A adapter in the box so if you don’t have a C port on your PC then you might want to look for an alternative set of speakers or purchase a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
They have a nice design and for the purpose of this review I was sent a set of the white colourway. The other option is black.
The main body feels like wood whilst the stands are plastic. This doesn’t deter away from the sound quality though. I’ve tried a couple of sets of USB powered speakers in the past and I will not be ashamed to admit I did not like those previous units… However, the Edifier R20BT actually hit a very sweet spot in my humble opinion.
No, they won’t be blowing any windows out any time soon but they serve very well for their size and the portability. Not only do these speakers support audio over the USB-C cable, they also have a 3.5mm aux input as well as Bluetooth 6.0 connection capabilities. So, in theory, you could go camping and take a decent sized power bank (say 20,000mAh) with a USB-C port on it and the speakers will work and provide a convenient way of having a good quality sound.
I will say that these speakers are super easy to use. Literally everything I plugged them into, they just worked. My Pixel 10 Pro XL, my Samsung Tab S7+, my Windows laptop, Windows PC, heck even my MSI Claw A8.

Just like other Edifier speakers, these can be configured/customised via the Edifier Connex mobile app or the relatively new (to me) Edifier TempoHub app on Windows. These apps let you choose different EQ settings as well as a way to customise the RGB lighting profile on the Edifier R20BT.
Conclusions
As mentioned further up, these speakers rapidly exceeded my expectations of USB-powered speakers. The Edifier R20BT provides a modern aesthetic as well as a clean sound whilst not compromising portability. The only thing I can say that would improve these is the missing USB-C to USB-A adapter.
I give the Edifier R20BT speakers a 9/10.
