Welcome to my review of the Nacon GM-420 wired gaming mouse. This is a mouse that has a pretty low cost, and it works on PC (Windows 10 and 11) and macOS. When I saw low, I mean it will cost you less than £30 MSRP.
The mouse only has one choice of colours and that is black. However, it has lots of RGB goodness on it too!
The Hardware
As always, I like to get straight to the point, just like this mouse. In the box, we have the GM-420 itself and that’s it. Doesn’t matter though because we’re not here for tons of fancy accessories, or weights or whatever. We are literally here for a budget mouse, and Nacon deliver!
The mouse connects via the 1.8m braided wired USB-A cable to a USB port on your PC/Mac. There is software available for the mouse to help control things like the RGB lighting. The software is available on the link further down the page on the Nacon site. It’s easy to use, just like the mouse. If you don’t want to download the software, you can still use the mouse just fine without it.
The GM-420 has six levels of sensitivity on its optical sensor ranging from 800 to 12000 DPI. That’s actually not bad for a sub £30 mouse.
The mouse also has ten buttons on it, three of which are thumb-accessible for quick actions. There’s even one of those fancy sniper buttons which sets your DPI to a super low speed so you can get those shots bang on target when needed.
It also has a nice easy grip thanks to the soft non-slip coating Nacon opted for with this mouse. It must be noted though that this is a mouse for the right-handed folks out there, like myself. You could use it with your left hand, but it’s not built for lefties, so it is very uncomfortable.
However, as mentioned I am a righty, and this mouse felt very comfortable for me. It fit in my hand just fine and it didn’t feel like a chore to use it.
All of the buttons seemed to be very responsive and didn’t fail me once. I even noticed that I didn’t have to lift it too far from my desk if I needed to move the mouse back toward myself, but not my character view/camera. If that makes sense.
All in all, I found that the Nacon GM-420 was a pleasure to use, and it didn’t feel like a sub £30 mouse at all.
Conclusions
At the price, this mouse is pretty damn good. Yes, there are far superior mice out there, but you will obviously pay way more for them. This mouse is perfect for those that don’t want to spend a lot on a mouse, or just to keep costs down if sticking to a budget.
