Danish mother and game developer Julie Normann Bjørnskov noticed a gap after becoming a parent. Real, complex experiences of parenthood – especially motherhood – were rarely reflected in the games she loved. So she decided to make one herself. As a result, Escape the Baby Alarm was born. Players can now try it for free through a public demo on Steam.
Escape the Baby Alarm is a short, relaxing puzzle game built around escape-room-inspired challenges. It takes an honest, cosy look at early parenthood. In particular, it turns the noise, mess, and constant mental juggling of that first year into something calm and playable. The game is coming soon to PC and mobile.

“Escape the Baby Alarm is a personal and heartfelt project for me,” says Julie Normann Bjørnskov, creator of the game. “It’s my way of transforming the messy and beautiful reality of parenthood into something playful and interactive. I’m creating it not only because parenting is an important theme. It also deserves far more space in the games industry. Parenthood is full of unexpectedly funny moments. Furthermore, those moments translate surprisingly well into gameplay. For me, this project is about honouring those experiences and turning them into something warm, relatable, and joyfully playable.”

What to Expect
The game unfolds through a series of hand-drawn scenes. In these scenes, players solve visual puzzles drawn from the everyday reality of new parenthood. For example, you might find yourself stepping on rice in your socks. You also face the quiet fear of not doing enough — emotionally or practically. In addition, the story builds toward a confrontation with the “Am I a Good Mother?” monster. It blends an interactive comic style with classic point-and-click gameplay. Clues are woven naturally into the visuals. As a result, the experience stays calm and unhurried.
