Thumbstick Tuesday – 6th December 2022

Welcome to our Thumbstick Tuesday on 6th December 2022. How was your week?

This week has consisted of many different games for all of us. Ben has been playing quite a few review games but hasn’t purchased anything new. Martin has mostly been playing Medieval Dynasty on Game Pass and The Callisto Protocol which he also bought on Friday. Brian has been smashing through God of War Ragnarök after he purchased it this week as well as another game.

Ben’s highlight this week is Wavetale on the PC. We have kindly been given this for review but that’s all we’re allowed to say about that for now!

Wavetale is a third-person action-adventure game from Thunderful Studios, the creators of Lost in Random and SteamWorld. Explore an open sea and the decaying archipelago of Strandville as you take control of Sigrid, a young girl who befriends a mysterious shadow that provides her with the power to walk on water.

Brian

This week Brian is playing Aragami 2 on the Nintendo Switch as well as purchasing and starting a couple of new games on the PS5.

Brian’s highlight this week is God of War Ragnarök. He’s finally got around to playing the long-awaited sequel and is absolutely loving every minute of it thus far.

God of War Ragnarök is the ninth installment in the series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018’s God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game is set in ancient Scandinavia and features series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. Concluding the Norse era of the series, the game covers Ragnarök, the eschatological event which is central to Norse mythology and was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Aesir god Baldur.

Martin

This week Martin mostly played The Callisto Protocol on the PS5. He’s totally in love with the gameplay and graphics. The story is also very awesome. Stay tuned for Martin’s review of this in the coming week.

Martin’s highlight this week is obviously The Callisto Protocol. He was a huge fan of the Dead Space series and it’s awesome to see that this game is directed by Glen Schofield who co-created Dead Space.

In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos.
