Welcome to my review of the Edifier W260NC True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds. These are one of the latest sets of true wireless earbuds from Edifier, I’ve previously enjoyed their earbuds so I was looking forward to getting these jammed in my ears to hear my favourite songs and playing my favourite games!
The Edifier W260NC are available in two different colourways which are “Dark Blue” and “Ivory”. For the purpose of my review, I was kindly sent a pair of the ivory colourway.
You can purchase these earbuds now for around £80 when not offer. But if you can take advantage of some deals I’ve seen them as low as £40, so around 50% discount.
However, my review is about these at the full price, so are they worth around £80? In short, yes. But why? Continue reading to find out more.
The Hardware
My initial impression of the Edifier W260NC was that they look pretty nice, but my god the case is very slippery! I opened the box, took the charging/carry case out and nearly dropped it, twice! The case itself feels like it’s made of plastic and has a design that makes it look a bit like leather, it’s a nice style. Apparently the case is “Faux leather and metal”. But it doesn’t feel that way to me. I could be wrong though but that’s how it feels.
Since I first opened them, I have actually dropped the charging case a couple of times due to how slippery it is. But fear not, there has been no real damage dealt to the case or buds themselves. Only a tiny scuff/scratch on the case itself. No biggy really. Just be cautious with the case and you’ll be fine.
Moving on, in the box we receive the charging case with the earbuds already inside. There is also a USB-C to USB-A charging cable, different size tips for the buds, a manual, an aftersales card, and a safety information leaflet.
I will say that these earbuds do have a great sound to them, as per usual from Edifier. I genuinely believe it would be hard to beat the sound quality these give out for the price you would pay at MSRP (~£80).
The Edifier W260NC support A2DP, AVRCP, and HFP over Bluetooth 5.3. The supported audio codecs are LDAC, AAC, and SBC. They are also certified for Hi-Res audio using the LDAC codec.
They also support dual connection so you could connect your phone to them as well as a handheld device, for example a Steam Deck. This means you could have a conversation on your phone with a loved one, a friend, a scam caller, or whoever whilst playing your favourite game on the go using the same pair of earbuds. Brilliant.
The battery life of the W260NC is also pretty impressive. We’re talking ~24 hours with ANC on and ~32 hours with ANC disabled. That really is good for the size of them considering they only take around one and a half hours to charge. You can also give them a fast charge of 15 minutes to give you an extra two hours of battery life if you’re short on time.
These earbuds also do seem to block out a lot of the environmental noise when you have ANC enabled. I was able to sit in the open office and enjoy a game and some music during a lunch break without hearing the usual noise around me.
As mentioned, battery life is great and never a worry. However, due to the fact these earbuds use USB-C for charging, that’s no issue as most devices use USB-C these days, including the latest iPhones! Another thing not to worry about is the IP54 rating which means you have dust and splash resistance.
There’s also an app for those using these with iOS or Android. You can download the Edifier Connex app to change settings on your earbuds, download and install new firmware etc. The app allows you to swap out the equaliser modes to tweak the earbuds to your liking. This app feels smoother than the previous Edifier Connect app that was available for some of their older hardware.
Conclusions
At the price we would pay for these headphones, I find they are bloody brilliant. The only issue I have, as mentioned up above, is the case that feels quite slippery to me. However, you may be absolutely fine with the case and will probably think “What’s that bell end talking about?!”.
The Edifier W260NC sport quite a few fancy features for under £100. The sound quality is very good, of course, there are better earbuds out there. But as I always say, you’ll be paying a lot more money, for not much more technology.
I give the Edifier W260NC a score of 9/10.
