Hidden in my Paradise

Hidden in my Paradise Review

Welcome to my review of Hidden in my Paradise. This game is brought to us by Ogre Pixel and is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, and Android via Google Play. For the purpose of this review, I was very kindly given a key for the PC version. Therefore, my views below are solely on this version as I have not played it on any other platform.

Hidden in my Paradise is a hidden object game akin to the likes of Hidden Through Time and the classic Where’s Wally?.

The Game

I hear you… I really do. “Another hidden object game?” and “Oh, this again”. But please stick with me. This game is great!

Let me get some negatives out of the way first, there isn’t many at all. This game reminds me a bit too much of Hidden Through Time. However, I will say that’s not a bad thing as I love those games. The graphics and in-game music reminds me of HTT a bit too much also.

Ok that’s the negatives done. Told you there isn’t many.

Hidden in my Paradise offers a similar play style to Hidden Through Time. It has the same isometric view and similarly styled graphics. That’s a good thing though as in my humble opinion, the view and graphics are spot on.

Hidden in my Paradise

Hidden in my Paradise does offer us a different style of gameplay in that we can actually move objects around the levels. For example, if there’s an object hiding behind a bush, you can simply drag and drop the bush into a new location to find out what’s behind it.

Ogre Pixel have also come up with another great idea for Hidden in my Paradise. Some of the in-game requirements are for you to take a photo of a particular setting. Let’s just say there’s a cat, dog, and mouse around the level. One of the tasks of the level could be to take a photo of all three sat around a camp fire with a guitar and some logs nearby.

But this does not exist in the level. Therefore, we have to create it ourselves with assets placed around the level. You can create this scene anywhere in the level, but some of it could already be laid out making it easier to re-create the photo. For example, the logs and campfire may already be there. You just need to find the cat, dog, guitar, and mouse around the level and drag them to the campfire.

Set the Scene!

This idea is bloody fantastic as it adds a bit more to the “hidden object” style of gameplay. Of course there’s more to the game, such as finding certain objects in their current location, looking inside of buildings etc.

Hidden in my Paradise

The game does contain a “Gatcha” machine which allows you to find additional objects to place around your own custom levels. These levels can also be shared online for others to play too.

Don’t fear the Gatcha machine though as I know typically these can require some form of currency to open. However, Ogre Pixel has been an angel and set it so the machine is only opened using in-game currency that is earned whilst playing the game. Fantastic. This means no extra in-game / in-app purchases, so once you have bought the game, that’s it. It’s yours to keep with no in-game currency purchases as of yet.

The game has also recently received a free Halloween update which just goes to show that the developers are keen to keep their players happy and also for them to continue playing Hidden in my Paradise.

I highly recommend that you do play this game, the only thing I’d change is maybe the music. I’m not really a fan of most in-game music though to be fair, so you may love it!

Whilst we have the “Unknown” category selected for the Steam Deck, I must add that I have played it on Deck with no problems at all. So fill your boots!

Conclusions

Whilst Hidden in my Paradise does feature its own style of gameplay, I couldn’t help but think it was too similar to Hidden Through Time. Everything about it just reminded me of HTT, which isn’t a bad thing at all to be honest. The graphics style, the music, it all reminded me of HTT.

However, that doesn’t mean you should not go out and buy Hidden in my Paradise. It’s a very relaxing game and does have a lot of differences to the aforementioned game to help it stand on its own two feet.

I give Hidden in my Paradise a score of 9/10.
