Edifier WH700NB

Edifier WH700NB Review

Welcome to my review of the Edifier WH700NB Active Noise Cancelling Headphones. If you’ve been here for a while, or read back on our previous reviews, you’ll know we’ve reviewed quite a few different bits of hardware from Edifier. The Edifier WH700NB are the latest headphones I was kindly sent to review.

These headphones are available in four colours (Black, Ivory, Navy, and Grey) and can be purchased for around £50 at the time of writing.

How do they hold up compared to previous models I’ve reviewed? Continue reading to find out.

The Hardware

So, the Edifier WH700NB has a lot of promise for around (or even under) the £50 price range. In my testing, I felt that they are a very acceptable set of headphones for that price.

We don’t get much in the box, but that’s to be expected to help keep costs down. We get the headphones, a short USB A to USB C charging cable, and the usual leaflets. As you can see in my image below, the headphones can also fold to help you store them in a bag or whatever whilst travelling.

Edifier WH700NB

Speaking of travelling, if you travel a lot and don’t want to spend loads of money on headphones then these could be of interest to you. Why? Because they have a very long battery life. We’re talking up to 68 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation disabled. If you enable active noise cancellation, you’re looking at around 45 hours which is still very generous on a single charge. Charging time is around 2 hours which is pretty good for the return on battery life.

Whilst I am talking about the active noise cancellation, I found that it’s not the best I’ve experienced from Edifier. However, we must remember that they are under £50. So, for that range, I would say it’s pretty acceptable as the ANC does block out quite a lot of noise.

Whilst using these headphones for calls such as telephone, WhatsApp, Teams etc… the person on the other end complimented the microphone and that the quality was very clear. Again, another bonus for that budget!

A good feature these headphones have is you can connect to two devices at once, allowing you to listen to those two devices at the same time. This means you could be playing on your Steam Deck whilst in a Discord call on your laptop, or phone, for example.

Game Mode!

Speaking of the Steam Deck, these headphones also have a Game Mode on them. This is enabled very easily and you can then get low-latency sound. It’s said that Game Mode goes as low as 0.08ms on latency. So, unless you’re some sort of Super Human, it’s instant. Why does this matter? Because if you’re playing a game, the lower the latency on sound, the closer it will match what you see to what you hear. Imagine playing a game that requires precise timing in a game. For example, Hi-Fi Rush. This is a game which requires you to be absolutely bang-on with your timing.

Edifier WH700NB

The Edifier WH700NB also offer a pretty impressive quality of sound thanks to 40mm drivers. There are also four preset equaliser modes so you can choose between them to best suit your situation. Also, if you’re using them with an Android or iOS device, there is a dedicated Edifier app you can use to fine-tune the EQ as well as other settings. I find that the app is “okay” but nothing special. It does what you need it to do and that’s what matters really.

Conclusions

So, the Edifier WH700NB has a lot of promise for around (or even under) the £50 price range. In my testing, I felt that they are a very acceptable set of headphones for that price. I believe that if your budget is quite low, you won’t get much better than these headphones.

They have an amazing battery life, Bluetooth 5.3 support, pretty decent active noise cancellation for the price, and gaming mode is great. If you wish to learn more about these headphones, please visit the official page.

I score the Edifier WH700NB headphones an 8/10.
