Welcome to my review of the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus. It is made by Soundcore, which is a division of a name that has become quite a common name in the world of technology, Anker.
What A Sound!
How did my ears find the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus? Continue reading to find out. You can also read our previous hardware reviews.
The Hardware
Opening the rather large box we are presented with a well-packaged speaker, some quick start guides, and a USB C charging cable for the speaker.
Weight-wise, it doesn’t weigh that much for the size and what it can do too. It comes in at around 2.3KG, which isn’t too much if you chuck it in your bag if it will fit.
When you turn the device on you’re presented with quite a charming sound to notify you that the device is powered on. There are also lights on the device that are located on the buttons up on the top.
In total, we have seven buttons to control various functions of our speaker. We have the following buttons. BassUp, Bluetooth pairing, volume up and down, the Soundcore button, power, and the TWS button. We’ll go more into TWS further down.
Design and Functionality
The Soundcore Motion Boom Plus gives us a rather generous 80w of sound. This is delivered by two 30W woofers and two 10W tweeters. The hardware also has Soundcore’s BassUp technology. This essentially is the mega punch button. Turn on BassUp and you will feel the bass, let alone hear it. It’s a fantastic addon to any piece of Soundcore hardware. The Motion Boom Plus also has titanium drivers to help improve treble performance.
The Soundcore Motion Boom Plus also comes with a carry strap that is detachable. Pretty useful if you take it out and about a lot and don’t have room in your backpack. We also see up to 20 hours of playtime thanks to the 13,400mAh battery that is inside. This can also be used to charge your mobile devices as the Motion Boom Plus works like a power bank too.
It also brings us IP67 certification. This means you have zero worries about splashes of water, rainfall, spills, and dust whilst on your travels with the Motion Boom Plus.
Connection and Software
I was a little disappointed that the previously reviewed Soundcore Motion Boom only has Bluetooth as an input option, however, the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus has changed that. We now have a 3.5mm jack so we can connect other devices to the speaker. For shits and giggles, I connected it to a multitude of different inputs. I had a 3.5mm cable connected to my desktop monitor, my PS5 Dual Sense controller, and even my large LG TV to test it.
I tell you what, it sounds bloody fantastic. Zero latency so it’s perfect for gaming on the go, or even on your desk.
You can customise the sound of your Soundcore Motion Boom Plus. You can do this by using the Soundcore app that is available on the Google Play Store or iOS App Store. Inside the app, there are various settings that allow you to change things around such as the EQ of your speaker. Other settings are enabling/disabling voice prompts, upgrading the firmware of your speaker, and more.
Conclusions
Although it’s rather large and fairly heavy, the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus is a fantastic piece of hardware.
I give the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus a solid 10/10. Highly recommended!
