Could the SoundPEATS Wings 2 could become your new earbud of choice?
Design & Comfort
The Wings 2 earbuds have been meticulously crafted to cater to the needs of users who prioritize comfort. These earbuds are a one-size-fits-all, so a lot of care has to go into how you design them. Whether you’re engaged in high-intensity workouts or going about your daily routine, these earbuds are designed to remain in place, providing a comfortable and uninterrupted listening experience.
Whilst I found them quite easy to fit around my ears, the same could not be said for my partner. She just could not get them to go around her ears. It’d be impossible to make earbuds like this that fit absolutely everyone, so it’s going for a medium range where it should cover most without being either too loose or too tight.
The plastic case has a pleasant texture that looks appealing. Although it is not a luxurious case, it serves its purpose well. The main objective is to have a durable case that can be tossed into a bag without any concern, and this case definitely meets that requirement. Even if it gets bumped around, it can withstand the impact. The case is slightly bigger than other earbud cases I own, but that is expected due to its design. How the earbuds are laid in the case presents them quite nicely, so I honestly wouldn’t change anything about them from that point of view.
SoundPeats App
The SoundPeats app is quite limited with the Wings2. There’s no active noise cancelling, so there’s no option for that. So what you’re left with is Adaptive EQ, custom EQ and game mode.
My one drawback with the app and earbuds was the same as with the Capsule 3 Pro earbuds. It was really missing the ability to disable touch controls. My app updated during the week, though along with a firmware update and the one feature I want is there! It’s a key feature for me, as it rains quite a lot where I live, and the hood of my raincoat registers touches on earbuds when the wind blows the hood against my head. Volume changes or they get turned off. Being able to disable touch controls is key. So I’m delighted I can do this now with these and the Capsule 3 Pros, which I’m still using regularly.
That’s it, though, with the SoundPeats App and the Wings2. There’s very limited functionality, but there’s little need for anything other than there is.
One change I would love to see with the app is the ability to see what the touch controls are. You can do a fair few things with them via touch controls, and I rarely remember what they are. I doubt I’m the only one. It’d be super handy to quickly open the app wherever I am and remind myself of what the options are.
Calls, Outside and Sound Playback
The Wings2 headphones may be affordable, but they offer impressive sound quality. You’ll be able to enjoy clear, well-balanced, and immersive audio with decent bass, clear mids, and crisp highs.
While they may not quite match the audio fidelity of more expensive models, they still exceed expectations for their price range. Even outside, you can hear clearly despite the lack of ANC. They’re really impressive, with music coming through louder than others I’ve tested, and voices are crisp. The sound quality is what I’ve come to expect from SoundPeats, leaving me impressed once more.
Phone calls are nice and clear, too. In fact, I had to turn the volume down on the call because although I wasn’t being shouted at, it certainly sounded like I was being shouted at. I can’t complain about that, though, as it’s better than not being able to hear the person you’re speaking to. And it’s been pretty windy where I am recently, which always makes it harder to hear people. Microphone quality didn’t seem to be as good as others, but how much of that is down to poor weather or not is up in the air. Testing them at home is not the same, as these will likely be outdoor earbuds more than indoor, so they need to sound good when outside. At the price point they’re in, though, it’s okay.
Conclusion
While the Wings 2 earbuds certainly deliver impressive performance, it’s important to note a few potential drawbacks. Some users may find that the microphone quality during phone calls doesn’t quite meet their desired level of clarity. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that these earbuds may not offer all of the advanced features and audio enhancements that are typically found in pricier models. There’s no ANC, for example. As such, it’s important to carefully consider your needs and preferences before making a purchase decision.
What you will get with these, though, is great value for your money. I found them to be really comfortable to wear, after having initial concerns looking at them that they might rub the area around my ears, but I had no such problems. They felt great and caused no issues at all. And the sound quality is pretty good.
If you’re looking for affordable wireless earbuds, the SoundPeats Wings2 are a great option. They have a comfortable fit, good sound quality, long battery life, water resistance, and easy-to-use controls (provided you can remember them), making them an excellent value for their price. S if you’re on a tight budget but still want a reliable and enjoyable audio experience, the SoundPeats Wings2 could be the earbuds for you. There’s a lot of love about them, and at £40 when full price, you can’t really go wrong.
